FIONA MATHERS

I became interested in early years development when my own children started at playgroup and volunteer committees were necessary to support this process within rural  communities. I recognised the value of being connected and listening and learning alongside other parents. Interest and opportunity led me to joining SPPA and from there the beginning of Home Start within Deveron.

Now, years later and a grandmother of two I remain as passionate about the roles and values of early years services for young families. Together we continue to try and meet the changing needs of early years provision at Home Start Deveron. As a Board our commitment as volunteers involves 'good governance' and ensuring the continued development and success of the organisation by meeting local needs and national standards.

Volunteering is an extraordinary opportunity to increase your knowledge,  develop your skills and work alongside people from all walks of life. There are always new challenges and opportunities and I am proud to be one of the Team.
